Dexter, is a television series, which depicts the difference between everyday norms, and violent undertones, it also conceives the idea that everything we do is violent when the perspective is flipped. Dexter is a great example of how this works and is show. The opening credits for dexter are somewhat disturbing although only to a violent perspective, in actuality the opening scene is harmless, its only the manner in which it is portrayed that makes it disturbing.
The concept idea for the opening credits was entirely different to the finished product. The tones of the two opening credits are also completely different, this is because the non diagetic music in the background gives a more sinister atmosphere where as the whole point in the program Dexter is to create two different tones, a violent and a subtle atmosphere. With this music playing in the background the tone is immediately set to a violent one instead of two contrasting ideas.
